PORTABLE NODE

Modular hardware. Purposeful packaging.

The first complete Raspberry Pi-based field node brings HaLow radio, audio, OLED status and the wearable enclosure together in physical hardware.

Prototype / integration
01

Compute and HaLow

Raspberry Pi 4 and OpenMANET/OpenWrt form the prototype foundation. Work has considered the HT-HC01P SPI radio, Wio-WM6108/Wio-WM6180 options and the Alfa AHM27292U. These are development paths, not a single released bill of materials.

02

Interfaces must match

Module form factor does not guarantee electrical compatibility. The Alfa M.2 option is a USB-interface path; a PCIe-only radio cannot be assumed to work through a USB adapter. Each radio and host combination needs its own validation.

03

First physical enclosure

The first-build enclosure now exists in physical form with a flat wearable back, curved electronics clearance, ribbed side structure, front ventilation, a protected top OLED and recessed antenna connections. The photographed unit is shown without its bottom-mounted battery attached.

04

Power and audio

Battery integration, measurement and power-state reporting remain development work. USB audio and compatible PTT hardware are the intended route for microphone and external-radio integration.

05

Prototype construction

The enclosure is additively manufactured for fit, integration and field-handling development. This first build establishes the physical layout; no ingress-protection rating, military-standard qualification, drop-test rating or battery endurance is claimed.

06

Expansion research

An EM7430 WWAN path and automatic LTE gateway detection are under investigation. Alternative Wi-Fi hardware and an external display/control assembly remain exploratory, not included production accessories.

THE COMPLETE PICTURE

Progress, without the guesswork.
